China Clay for Paper Industry:

The following Beneficiation steps will help improve the brightness of the Clay.

1. SC HGMS
2. Froth Flotation
3. Chemical Leaching with CDB

Analytical test results show that the SC HGMS (Super Conducting high gradient Magnetic Separation) method shows a good increase in brightness, whereas the other 2 steps only show nominal improvement. The SC HGMS (Super Conducting high gradient Magnetic Separation) method of China Clay beneficiation removes both the Ferrous (Iron) and Titanioferrous impurities. The Froth Flotation method is helpful in removing the titanioferrous impurities, where as the CDB method separates only the soluble iron. Another impurity content that affects the brightness of Kaolin is Carbon. This impurity adversely affects the whiteness of the Kaolin. There are two nature of iron impurities contaminated with the Kaolin:

i) “Structural” as part of the Kaolin structure
ii) “External or Free” as separate iron compounds like the oxides, carbonates, sulphides etc
