China Clay for Paper Industry:
Beneficiation of China Clay will play a very important role in making the crude China Clay or Kaolin to be made use in Paper Industry. Following are the specification that the Paper Grade Kaolin should be controlled for:

2. Optical Properties: Brightness, Whiteness, Color Value etc
3. Rheology
The paper industry application for China Clay or Kaolin demands a very high brightness. And hence high brightness becomes the most important property that needs fine tuning for making the china clay usable as Paper Grade Kaolin. Presence of Iron and Titania impurities in the China Clay affect its brightness. Reddish hematite and Yellowish Geothite are the normal Iron Minerals found in Clay. Other impurities present in China Clay are quartz, mica and carbon. Hence the China Clay has to be treated to remove these impurities and thereby the optical properties of the clay can be improved in order to improve the Clay brightness.
