Laser Synthesis Process
This method is used for the preparation of nanosized silicon carbide powder. In this process a mixture of reactant gases of SiH4 and C2H4 along with a carrier gas of argon is orthogonally injected in a special chamber under a laser beam. CO2 laser is used as the source of heating.
In the reaction process nanosized beta silicon carbide powder is produced. The particle size and distribution, the crystal shape can be modified as per our requirement by adjusting the reactant gas, gas pressure, laser beam intensity etc.
This process is used for the preparation of ultra fine size silicon carbide powder for most advanced ceramic applications.
