Thermal Decomposition of Silicon Imide or Amide
In the second method of Thermal Decomposition process a mixture of silicon tetra chloride and aromatic groups containing silicon atom is dissolved in toluene solvent. This is reacted with liquid ammonia so as to produce nitrogen containing silanes.
The formed silanes are converted to silicon nitride powder by heating in a special furnace at a temperature of 1500.C to 1600.C. The formed powder is very pure and very fine in nature.
