Lead-Zirconate-Titanate Powder Preparation
Alkoxide Hydrolysis Method: In this method in ethanol solution first the compounds like lead isopropoxide, zirconium tetrabutoxide and titanium ethoxide are separately dissolved. The solutions arrived separately are then mixed together and refluxed for few hours in nitrogen atmosphere at about 74.C.
In the next stage the solution is hydrolyzed at room temperature and a gel is formed within few minutes. The formed gel material is separated after ageing in the mother liquor at about 50.C. This helps to form an amorphous powder.
The amorphous powder formed is crystallized in a specially made furnace at a temperature of 600.C. After crystallization we get very fine Lead-Zirconate-Titanate Powder of particle size of 0.4 to 0.7 micron with very high surface area.
