Titania Powder Preparation

Barium Titanate Powder Preparation
Complex Precursor Method

This method involves a thermal decomposition process of Barium Titania Citrate Polyester resin. In the first stage a chelate of Barium and Titanium ions with a hydroxycarboxylic acid like citric acid in an aqueous medium is prepared. The prepared solution is heat treated at a temperature of 80oC to 110oC in presence of a polyhrodxyl alcohol like ethylene glycol.

This process produces a clear solution which polymerises to a resin at 150oC to 250oC through esterification of the carboxylic groups of citric acid and hydroxyl groups of ethylene glycol. Further calcination at 500oC to 700oC produces a very fine homogenous barium titanate powder.
