Fluoride and Sulphuric Acid Reaction Method:
Fluoride Method:
Zircon, Potassium Fluoride and Potassium Chloride is first mixed in a blender to ensure uniform mixing. The mixture is shifted to a crucible and heated in a furnace to a temperature of 1700oC. The reaction helps to form potassium zirconia fluoride in soluble form. The repeated purification of potassium zirconium fluoride is done by re-crystallization process so as to form Zirconium Oxide.
Sulphuric Acid Reaction Method:
Zirconia is leached out with concentrated sulphuric acid as zirconium sulphate. The crystallization of Zirconium Sulphate solution followed with the calcination produces very high purity zirconia.
