Alumina Powder Preparation - Different Milling Effects

As studied through various articles one can understand that there are various milling methods available in the ceramic industries for Alumina Powder Preparation. The effect of different milling method differs on the quality characteristic of the alumina powder.

We need to understand the end user requirement about the quality of powder for selection of suitable milling method. For example grinding and doping of the powder with magnesium oxide was carried out by stirred ball or vibration ball milling with different grinding media and different linings of the mills.

The different research studies carried over for studying the effect of different milling reveals that even though the particle size distribution of the powder prepared by different milling methods was similar the materials processed from the powders had very different micro structures. The introduction of various impurities in the form of wear particles from different grinding media and mill linings was responsible for the different micro structures.
