The high pumping rate results in a faster grinding with narrow particle size distribution. This phenomenon can be explain by the concept of preferential grinding. The high pumping rate allows the slurry stream through the agitator grinding media belt which acts as a dynamic sieve or filter, allowing the fines to pass and move quickly through, while the coarser particles follow a move tortuous path through the media belt.
The circulation process allows the materials makes many passes through the grinding chamber until the decide particle size obtained. In normal operative systems a gear pump is always used for handling softer material. For harder, abrasive and high viscosity slurries a diaphragm air pump is used.
The advantage of circulation type wet grinding attritors are that large quantities of material can be handle with smaller investment for grinding media and attritor equipment. The status of grinding can be continuously monitored and any requirements of additional additives can be added as per the requirement and the grinding process can be terminated precisely any time as per the process requirement.
