The data collected from the tests listed in previous article, together with experience gained from working samples of the clay should give an informed estimate value of the clay. The chemical analysis report and the physical analysis report together should be used for finding out the suitability of the clay.
Once the individual clay properties are studied, the next step is to study the properties of blended clays. The blended clays give out totally different properties and it varies between different permutations and combinations. And hence the study of blended clay properties is considered to be an important step in finding out the suitability of clay.
However nature has done enough work in this aspect in making the clay suitable for use with little efforts by a ceramist.
