Primary clay - as the name denotes it is primary in type. We can also describe it as Clay without proper treatment or beneficiation process - which cannot be used as such for any application. It needs to go through lot of processes to make it useable.
Different application needs different characteristics type of China clay and hence the selection and beneficiation process differs based on the end users requirement. The process starts from the Geological Survey. The Geologist based on his expertise needs to make a detailed study on the location of the clay mines, its Geographical age etc.
Once the identification process is complete, the Reserves are estimated. What is the overburden material, its extend of depth, its characteristics etc are very important criteria in the selection of clay mines.
