Sanitaryware came into existence few centuries ago. However the search for new and different raw materials for the production of sanitaryware is still continuing. Although many raw materials are established as standard ceramic sanitaryware raw materials having exclusive unique characteristics, the search is still on.
From the early days of invention, the basic process adapted for sanitaryware manufacturing is based on slip casting technique. Hence the rheological behaviour of the raw materials is the fundamental criteria for selecting the right raw materials for body-making.
The mineral Kaolinite based clay is the basic clay for the sanitaryware body. However sometimes the Mondmorilinite and Illite mineral group clays are also used in some specific exclusive sanitaryware body requirements.
