Electrical Porcelain Body:
A typical Electrical Porcelain Earthenware Body for making low tension insulator normally will have the following recipe:
Ball Clay – 20%
China Clay – 20%
Quartz – 30%
Feldspar – 20%
Talc – 10%
The high tension body will have the following recipe:
Ball Clay – 30%
China Clay – 10%
Quartz – 30%
Feldspar – 30%
The low tension insulators such as fuse and switch boxes are usually made by dust pressing method. In this way the accuracy of dimensions can be readily obtained. Since electrical components contain both ceramic and metal parts, to make the fitting more perfect the dimensional accuracy is very important.
