White Wall Tile Body:
The wall tile body also belongs to Earthenware and is used world wide for the production of white wall tiles. The common recipe used for making white wall tile body is as follows:
Ball Clay – 25%
China Clay – 25%
Quartz – 40%
Talc – 10%
The raw materials are mixed in a Ball mill along with water to produce a liquid slurry. This slurry is then passed through sieves and magnets and is then passed through a Spray Dryer. The Spray Dryer produces granules of body. These granules are taken into a powerful press where it is pressed into tiles of different sizes. The pressed tiles are passed through a Roller Kiln and fired at a temperature of 1200oC to produce biscuit fired tiles.
The biscuit fired tiles are glazed and fired again in a Roller Kiln at a temperature of 1050oC – 1100oC. During glazing, screen printing techniques are used for making different types of decoration.
