Casting

Where the shapes are intricate and difficult to make by jiggering and jolleying, slip casting process is the best solution available. Depending on the size and shape the casting moulds are made into different parts to form the final shape. The mould making for these processes are a special technique and consist of various stages. The shape to be made - drawing is prepared first and as per the drawing the model is prepared either with clay or with plaster or with wood. The model is used for making a mould which is the prototype to be used in the regular manufacturing process. This is otherwise called mother mould.

In this mother mould, the shapes are made out by using casting slip, dried, fired and the trial product is given to the Quality Assurance and Sales Department. Once the shape is approved by using the mother moulds the block mould is prepared from which number of working moulds are prepared for general manufacturing.
