The Ball Clay Mine Owners can set up their own Quality Control Testing Lab at their Mine Site and they can do the following tests to ascertain quality characteristics of the clay available at various locations of their mine.
This test normally includes:

e)Thermal Expansion
f)pH Values
g)Refractoryness
h)Shrinkage behaviour both dry and fire
i)Vitrification Curves showing change in Porosity
j)Green and Fire MoR
k)Fired Colour
l)Deflocculant Demand
m)Permeability Behaviour
n)Differential Thermal Analysis
By doing the above tests one can understand the properties of the clays available in different sources.
