Brick - This is the first ceramic engineering material . In fact, we could call this as the first engineering material invented by mankind. It is the basic building block and needless to say there would be no infrastructure without bricks. Buildings, dams and all construction activities rely on this basic engineering material and naturally this results in a large demand for bricks. Which is why this industry constantly undergoes technological changes.
Initially in different parts of the world, they used different types of clay based on local availability of resources and adopted different techniques and firing methods to meet the specifications with reasonable costs.
But now highly advanced mechanisation techniques has been introduced in the production processes like preparation, moulding, pressing, drying, firing, loading and unloading operations. This gave way to large scale production and manufacturers can now produce quality products in large volume at reasonable costs.
This magic material which was first very famous among the Egyptians and the Romans has now become a popular common man’s material all over the world.
