The creator used the five basic elements of nature - Water, Earth, Fire, Air and Space to create ‘Life’. Probably that could be the reason why from the very beginning of the existence of mankind, we have always had an attachment to all these five elements. At a physical and emotional level, through generations and centuries, we have carried an importance and respect to these five elements of nature. From the early days we started using these five elements for our daily living requirements in various ways. And this marked the beginning of the first so called ‘POTTERY’ era (which shaped out as CERAMIC era).
In the early days of the ‘POTTERY’ era, pottery materials like bricks and tiles were used in the construction of dwelling places and earthern pottery cooking and storing vessels emerged for storing food and water. Even dead bodies were burried in containers out of pottery. Thus the first ceramic materials came into existence and became a part of human lives.
